I am always asked about Rustproofing and Undercoating a car. They ask if they should have it done. I personally do not believe it is needed. I do not have it done on my cars. The manufacturers these days are very good at coating and treating metals parts when they build the cars. The last thing a Manufacturer needs these days are cars that are prematurely rusting. Years ago they did not have the technology and materials like they do today to keep metal from rusting. Many manufacturers actually have a 100,000 mile rust through warranty. Usually many people that were around back in the 50's and 60's that saw how quickly cars can rust, especially in the areas of the country that use salt on their roads in the winter will buy Rustproofing and Undercoating. Many of them will actually want the Rustproofing. They made up their minds before I even got a chance to tell them about it, they already figured that into the cost of a new car.

Besides all of that, how long are you going to keep your car. many people that buy new cars do not keep them long enough to even think about rust. If you really want to get your vehicle Rustproofed and you do not want to spend up to $600 to have it done, there are many Bodyshops and Detail Shops that will do it for around $100.00.

Ok Joe, what about the Paint Proctection? This another item I do not personally get on my car. If you wash your car regularly and wax your car a couple times a year with a good quality wax you will accomplish the same thing. This also goes back to the technology of today that goes into automobile paint and finishes. They do an excellant job at the factory on car finishes and are meant to stand up to the elements with minimum owner care.

How about that Fabric Protection? When people that have kids ask about that I actually get excited. That means I am going to sell them Fabric Protection. (cha-ching) If you really feel that you need or want Fabric Protection becuase you have kids or you like the morning coffe in the car, you could have the dealer do it for a couple hundred bucks or you can do it with an aerosol can from the auto parts store. There is a product by 3M that you spray on yourself for about $8.00 that does a great job. However you do need to do it more than once every 5 years.

There I said it, all about the Rustproof, Undercoating, Paint and Fabric Protection and how I really feel about them. These are my opinions. I am sure there are people out there that many argue the point with me.

I do continue to sell these products almost daily to New Car buyers and I have even sold some to Used car Buyers. (yes Used car Buyers) I will give you some examples of how I sell the products in other articles.

Thanks
Joe Slick
