Ten F.Y.I. Car Buying Quick
Tips
1.When you sign and buy a car, there is no
cooling off period (like 3 days). You can not return the car.
So make sure you know what your are signing for and what you
are paying.
2.When you leave a deposit with a Dealership
use a credit card. If there is an issue and they do not want to
refund your deposit you file a claim with your credit card
provider and they will charge them back. Do NOT pay in
cash.
3.All new cars must have a Window Sticker/Monroney Label. It
is against the law for a new car to be wthout a sticker.
4.Window VIN
Etching is said to protect you from getting your car
stolen. Actually it just puts the VIN number on the glass and
would hinder what may be sold to Scrap Yards.
5.When you purchase accessories from the dealer
they will usually set up a time at a later date. Make sure you
have paperwork of what and when these services or items will be
installed.
6.When buying a Used Car....make sure
there are 2(two) keys. Many dealers will only get one key from
customer and not provide a second. Some keys with remotes can
cost $250.00 and up.
7.Make sure any rebate you get is
included on the Buyers Order. Many times in all the confusion
with buyers they don't even get their rebate applied to the
purchase.(this would only happen at dishonest dealers)
8.When you buy a Used Car the dealer may sell
the vehicle As-Is. As-Is gives you absolutely no warranty of any kind. After you do
the paperwork the car is yours. Even if it has problems pulling
off the dealers lot.
9.When a Dealer says he locate a car for you or
do a transfer they will want a deposit. (see deposit above).
When they take your deposit they should be writing you a Buyers
Order that details the car, color, pricing, otions also insist
there be a time limit on the transaction. (such as 3 days or a
week. have them put it in writing)
10.When you purchase a vehicle outside of your
county or state you will usually pay the tax rate where you
LIVE not where you buy the vehicle. (this is most cases in the
U.S. but not all)
